"A new drug called Nitro was introduced in the coastal belt in December," Sardesai said on the floor of the House while supporting amendments, which were moved on Tuesday, to state Governor B V Wanchoo's speech on March 3.
The anti-narcotics cell has failed to control the drug menace in the coastal belt, Sardesai said while contesting the claims made by the Governor in his speech on the sound law and order situation in the state.
He said instances in recent past like Nigerian nationals taking on the state's police machinery and fight between taxi operators are indicative of deteriorating law and order in the state.
