Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said that three bike borne persons shot dead one Kedar Rai, aged in mid 50s, a few metres away from his residence located at Saguna mor area of the capital.
Rai, who was a councillor of ward number 15 of Danapur Municipal Council, was gunned down around 6 am when he was on morning walk near his house, Maharaj said.
SSP said that the land dispute could be the reason behind the murder.
Rai, the councillor was considered close to the RJD chief Lalu Prasad, was taken to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.
"RJD leades are being targeted by the new NDA-JD(U combination," RJD MLA and senior party leader Bhai Birendra said adding that nobody is secured in this dispensation.
