Couple jumps into canal, commits suicide

A couple allegedly committed suicide yesterday by jumping into Kanwarsen Lift canal in Bikaner district.
Lunkaransar police station officials said the couple took the plunge together into the canal near railway station in Dhirera village.
The police was informed of the incident by the villagers who saw the couple taking the extreme step. The police later deployed professional divers who fished out the victims' bodies. The bodies have now been kept in the local mortuary.
The deceased were identified as Khumaram and Birma Devi, said the police adding it's now waiting to hand over the body to the victims' family members, who have been informed of the incident.
