Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly and CPI(M) state secretary Surya Kanta Mishra today accused the Mamata Banerjee government of failing to provide relief to the flood victims.
"Lakhs of people are affected due to floods, but the state administration has completely failed to provide relief to the victims because of its callousness," Mishra said in a statement.
Mishra appealed to party workers to start a massive fund collection drive between August 6 and August 12 to provide relief to the people affected by the floods.
The death toll in the flood rose to 83 today with 14 fresh deaths being reported.
