Van Schoor, just 25, collapsed at the crease after suffering a stroke while representing his country in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge against Free State in the Namibian capital of Windhoek last Sunday.
Van Schoor had scored 15 off 16 balls before he told team-mate Nicolaas Scholtz that he had a headache and was feeling dizzy.
"He took a sip or two of water and then just stumbled over. I caught him in my arms," Scholtz told media afterwards.
Cricket Namibia CEO Donovan Zealand said everyone believed the extremely hot conditions on the day had led to the situation.
"It is a terrible tragedy for anybody to die at such a young age," commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.
"And on behalf of the CSA family I extend our deepest condolences to his family, his friends and his cricketing colleagues.
Although he was so young he had already represented Namibia for eight years and was one of the batting stalwarts of their side.
He made more than 4,000 first-class runs, took 28 wickets and was a competent wicketkeeper as well."
