DA case: Jagan's judicial remand extended till Sep 20

A special CBI court here today extended till September 20 the judicial remand of jailed YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and other accused in connection with a case relating to alleged quid-pro-quo investments in the companies owned by the Kadapa MP.

Jagan, along with other accused including his auditor V Vijay Sai Reddy, former minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao, industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad and bureaucrat K V Brahmananda Reddy, who are lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison were produced before the court through video-conference which extended their judicial remand by another 14-days.

Jagan, who was recently shifted back to Chanchalguda jail from Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) after his treatment following his indefinite fast against the move to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, was arrested by CBI on May 27 last year on corruption charges and has been lodged there since then.

Former AP Ministers Dharmana Prasada Rao and Sabitha Reddy, both accused in the case also appeared before the court.

Meanwhile, a group of pro-Telangana lawyers tried to stop the vehicle of Dharmana in the Nampally court premises and raised slogans in support of the statehood demand but police immediately dispersed them.

The case relates to alleged investments made by private firms and individual investors in Jagan's companies as a quid-pro-quo for government favours when his father, late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

The court, in the meanwhile, also extended the judicial custody of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and other accused in the case pertaining to alleged illegal mining involving his OMC firm, till September 20 after they were produced through video-link from the Chanchalguda jail.

Last week, the CBI had questioned AP Minister for Major Industries J Geetha Reddy in connection the case against Jagan about the Lepakshi Knowledge Hub (LKH) land allotment.
