The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) today sought a report from Hyderabad District Collector by February 27 in connection with the deaths of five women during the delivery procedures at the state-run Niloufer hospital here.
City based NGO, Helping Hand Foundation and families of deceased women, filed complaints with SHRC and the inquiry officer, alleging that there were serious human rights violations during the course of C-section surgeries and subsequent medical management in all the cases.
In the complaint it was alleged by the families of the victims that junior resident doctors performed the surgeries without proper care and supervision of senior doctors that led to profuse bleeding immediately after surgery in all the five cases.
"Government should take stringent action against the erring doctors and also pay a compensation of at least Rs 10 lakh per family to the kin as all these families are from economically weaker sections," they said.
Earlier, a three-member committee of senior doctors was formed to ascertain the cause of deaths of five women during C-section delivery procedures at the hospital between January 29 to February 4.
Telangana government had also ordered an inquiry by Hyderabad District Collector Rahul Bojja in the deaths.
