Delhi government today said it would appeal to all MLAs of the city to plant at least 2,000 saplings each in their constituencies to achieve the target of planting 14 lakh saplings across the city this year.
Delhi Environment Minister Asim Ahmed Khan said the AAP government will launch a comprehensive campaign against air pollution in the city next month.
A meeting of the greening agencies, including MCD, DDA, NDMC, various Delhi government departments and PSUs, has been convened on Monday to take forward the campaign.
"It is important that comprehensive, coordinated and integrated efforts are required to improve the air quality in Delhi while accounting the emissions from nearby states and from Delhi itself to understand a casual relationship between emissions and impact on air quality," Khan said.
The minister had earlier in the day said that the Delhi government plans to plant 14 lakh saplings across the city this year.
