Delhi school students sensitised about using social media

More than 1.8 lakh students from 290 schools in Delhi have been sensitised about the dos and don'ts of using social media.
Under the 'Go to School' initiative being carried out by Special Police Unit For Women and Children (SPUWAC), students are being told to be cautious about befriending unknown people on social media, sharing personal information and having secure passwords, said Varsha Sharma, DCP(SPUWAC).
Ten teams of Delhi Police officials have been constituted for this initiative that kicked off on November 2.
Till now, 290 schools of Delhi, both government and private, have been covered and 1,83,469 students sensitised through lectures as well as presentations, the officer said.

Audio-visual presentations created by Deloitte talking about dangers lurking in the cyberspace are shown to the students, she said.
Currently the presentations that are being shown have foreign faces, but presentations with Indian faces are being developed so that children can relate to them, another officer said.
After the sessions, many students have come up to us and said they will unfriend people whose friend requests they had accepted despite not knowing them, the officer said.
