Delhi Traffic Police today issued an advisory asking commuters to avoid several roads leading to the Red Fort and instead use Delhi Metro, ahead of the full dress rehearsal of the Independence Day celebrations tomorrow.
"Owing to the full dress rehearsal the entire city will be under heightened security. Barricades and checking will be intensified within the city and at the borders. Citizens are requested to plan their movements accordingly. For hassle-free journey, commuters may avail the services of Delhi Metro," Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Anil Shukla, said.
Major roads around Red Fort area would be closed for general traffic from 5 AM to 9 AM tomorrow.

Vehicles which do not have parking labels may avoid Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Subhash Marg, Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg and Ring Road between Nizammuddin Bridge and ISBT bridge and take the route as advised, he said.
Local city buses including DTC would be restricted on Ring Road from 5 AM to 9 AM tomorrow between Hanuman Setu and Bhairon Road 'T' point.

Inter-state buses will not be allowed between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT from 5 AM to 9 AM. These buses may use G T Road, Wazirabad Road and NH-24.
"The city will be under heightened security and there shall be special checking of all vehicles, both private and commercial, entering the NCT from the neighbouring states through border entry points, from 8 PM on the intervening night of 12-13 August," the traffic advisory said.
Informative signages have been displayed for the guidance of vehicular traffic destined for the Red Fort function at all important traffic junctions, police said.
