Deve Gowda virtually endorses Advani's remarks on LS polls

"Advani is a very senior politician and a Parliamentarian. He is also NDA Chairperson. He must have said this in his blog in the light of recent political developments taking place at national level," the JDS leader told reporters here when asked about Advani's remarks.

Advani had said in his blog yesterday that a non- Congress, non-BJP Prime Minister, supported by either of the two parties, is "feasible" after the next Lok Sabha elections.

The senior BJP leader's blog posting has come against the backdrop of Bihar Chief Minister and NDA leader Nitish Kumar seeking an assurance from BJP that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will not be NDA's Prime Ministerial candidate for the 2014 general elections.

To a query if the JDS was planning to join hands with any national party in the Lok Sabha polls, Gowda said the question did not arise."Moreover, I have not moved out of Bangalore for last three months. It would be not appropriate for me to say anything on the topic," he said.

Asked for his reaction on Anna Hazare disbanding his team, Gowda said he did not want to comment much on the issue as any "debate on corruption is a very difficult task."

On Hazare's social movement turning into a political movement, Gowda said people knew what happened to JP movement after Jayaprakash Narayan guided Janata Party to power in 1977. "For that matter, the architect of Indian Constitution B R Ambedkar did not win elections," he said.

Gowda said Jayaprakash Narayan gave new dimension to Indian politics and gave people an alternative to Congress government. "It is difficult for any social movement to reach the heights of JP movement. However, all political parties should think hard on issues of corruption," he said.
