Devotees take holy dip

Devotees from various parts of
Punjab today took holy dip in the sacred tanks of historic Gurdwara Muktsar Sahib and other Sikh shrines on the occasion of Maghi.
Despite rains, devotees thronged Sikh shrines at Tila Baba Farid at Faridkot, Nanaksar and Takhatpura at Moga.
After taking bath in holy sarovars (sacred tanks) devotees paid obeisance at Gurdwaras where prayers were also held.
Maghi Mela is celebrated at Muktsar in the memory of forty brave Sikh soldiers who deserted 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh at Anandpur Sahib, but later joined the Guru and sacrificed their lives while fighting against the Mughals.
