A differently-abled orphan could not understand much of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech delivered in "shuddh Hindi", and the only thing he could understood and cheered vigorously for was when Modi said that all kids should get food in schools.
The kid was among those who listened to the PM's address on the occasion of Teachers' Day at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay School, meant for differently-abled and orphan, at Vishni Digambar Marg, where the scenes were way different from other schools in the city.
The students had mixed views about the speech. While some found it interesting others were not so much enthused. Some were seen clapping sometimes during the speech.
More importantly, the kids were seen reacting to only those topics which were about their needs.
The girls clapped vigorously when Modi pitched for girls' toilets in every school of the country. "The PM has promised to build separate toilets for girls in schools," said a differently-abled girl.
With the PM speaking in "shuddh Hindi", it became difficult for many students to comprehend what he was saying. Teachers were seen explaining to the students the speech.
Asked about the reactions of the students after the speech, a teacher at the school said, "The quotes were difficult to understand even for the teachers, leave aside the students. I believe the language could have been easier for the students to understand it."
"I am very happy that the PM is trying to communicate and interact with the students across the country. But a two-way communication could have been a better idea so that the PM can apprehend the needs and aspirations of the students," said Rajendra Kumar, the principal of the school.
As many as 22 out of 35 students attended school today despite heavy rains lashing the city.
