DIMTS denies charges of unfair practices by cluster bus staff

Following complaints about their job terms by a section of cluster bus employees, Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) today said it cannot be blamed for any unfair practices as it does not hire any staffers.
The General Secretary of Delhi Cluster Bus Seva and Allied Karmchari Union, Pramod Tomar, had alleged that the workers in question were being denied minimum wages and payslips and deprived of benefits under the Employees' State Insurance Scheme by DIMTS.
However, in a statement, DIMTS spokesperson Smita John clarified that "neither the drivers of the cluster buses nor the conductors deployed on them are employees of DIMTS".

Under the cluster scheme, the responsibility of providing buses with drivers lay with the company owning the said buses, the statement stated.
"Since we don't hire them, the insinuation of recourse to unfair practices - irregular payment of wages, non-payment of minimum wages and denial of payslips - by DIMTS is a gross distortion of facts," she said.
DIMTS has been appointed by Delhi government's transport department to monitor the operation of cluster buses and manage collection of fares from passengers.
