Police today claimed to have busted a gang of bicycle thieves with the arrest of 16 teenagers and recovered several bicycles, laptops and mobile phones from them.
The juveniles, aged between 12 years and 17 years, usually took away bicycles from children or stole those parked in residential buildings.
According to the police, some of them were students at reputed schools here, while their 12-year-old gang leader was sent to a rehabilitation centre under provisions relating to juveniles in conflict with law.
As many as 13 cycles along with laptops and mobiles were recovered from them.
