Having delivered a string of hits with Dev, heroine Koel Mallick says she doesn't know why directors of non-mainstream genre don't pit them together in any film.
Koel, who is excited about upcoming masala flick 'Herogiri' with Dev and the one and only Mithun Chakroborty, tells PTI, "Both me and Dev had turned up in masala genre films separately. So directors know that we can deliver. It is for them to decide if we can be used in other genre together."
Having shared screen space with Mithun Chakroborty for the second time in Herogiri, Koel still seems awestruck about the "Powerhouse actor."
"Muthanda seems to be a centre of huge amount of electricity. He is vibrant and yet modest considering he is such a big star. Mithunda must be older than me by years than my total age counted together. But he never flaunts his seniority," Koel gushes.
Mithun, who also shook legs in a 'troika' dance in the Ravi Kinnagi film, in fact looked like a 16-year old having spring in his feet, Koel says.
"Onar din din boyes kome jachhe (his age seems to go down every day)," she sayd.
Happy with the high number of releases of Bengali films, Koel says It augurs well for cinema as people will get to choose the films they like.
"From thriller to masala flicks, from non-mainstream realistic to comedies - there will be a varied fare and it will help pull more audiences to Bengali films. We all want the industry to thrive," the Rangbaaz actor says.
Happy with thrillers being the toast of the season, Koel says, "Bengali film industry had a tradition of thrillers. And apart from sleuth stories even flicks like Char by Babuda (Sandip Ray) had thriller element in one of the stories where me and Abir (Chatterjee) were cast.
"Hemlock had also thriller element. If an offer comes my way, why not?" she says to a related query. Koel had earlier worked in blockbusters Bandhan, Yuddho, Premer Kahini and 100% Love with the director.
"Koel and Dev share an excellent chemistry having delivered nth number of hits together. In Herogiri, which is an out and out entertainer Sayantika Banerjee too has a fabulous performance," Ravi said.
Herogiri, produced by Surinder Films, will be released on January 23 but Koel confirms there will be no clash of interest with other Tolly flicks.
