Dismiss Mufti govt, impose Guv rule in J&K :Abdullah after

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah today demanded the dismissal of PDP-BJP government and sought Governor's Rule in Jammu and Kashmir claiming that the Mehbooba Mufti led regime had failed to conduct a peaceful election.
Abdullah, who won the Srinagar seat bypoll results of which were announced today, said the election was the "bloodiest" that Jammu and Kashmir had known and witnessed the lowest ever turnout.
The state government completely failed to give security to the people so that they could cast their vote in peace and in harmony, Abdullah said.
"As president of NC, I demand and I request the government of India and the President of India that this government should be dismissed right away so that the Governor's Rule comes into play and people can have some peace," he said.

Talking to reporters at National Conference (NC) headquarters here, he said that while the election had been held, let us not forget that a number of young people have died.
Nearly eight young people laid their lives and many were injured, he said.

He alleged that people who are not involved in any stone throwing or anything are being arrested or taken out from their homes and that process continues even today.
It shows that this government has completely failed in giving peace and tranquillity to the state, he said.
The NC president demanded that the bypolls in Anantnag Parliamentary constituency in south Kashmir, which were deferred till May 25, should be held under the Governor's rule.

I will also say that the election in Anantnag should happen under the Governor s Rule and without that we cannot see whether they (state government) will do justice with the people, he said, adding the "government was sure that their candidate was going to lose, which is why they postponed the election".
Abdullah trashed the rumours that he would resign from Lok Sabha after today s win.
Reacting to the video of a youth tied up to an army vehicle, Abdullah termed the action as unfortunate and a human rights violation.
I request them not to do such things which will add to the fire and render it uncontrollable, he said.

He batted for resumption of Indo-Pak talks and dialogue with all stakeholders including separatist Hurriyat Conference.
Asked about the dismal poll percentage in the bypolls, Abdullah said "How does it matter? We have seen polls before also where hardly any percentage was there. It does not make any difference. Democracy has been there. What do you say to the people who have voted, even if it may be seven per cent with all the pressures on them?"
Responding to a question on the NC stand on Article 370, Abdullah said our stand has always been that the Article has to be restored to 1953 level.

"We have not changed on that," he said.
