DMK, AIADMK to take part in meet to pay tributes to Vajpayee

Arch rivals the DMK and the AIADMK, besides the Congress, will participate in a BJP-sponsored meeting of various parties to pay tributes to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee here tomorrow.

According to a statement from BJP state President Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar and Minister of State Pon Radhakrishnan would participate in the meeting.

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) senior leader and state Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President Su. Thirunavukkarasar and leaders of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), G K Mani and Thol.Thirumavalavan, respectively, will also attend the meeting, she said.

The DMK's ally, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will be represented by its leader and lone party MLA in Tamil Nadu K A M Mohammed Abubacker, while leaders of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Communist Party of India (Marxist)CPI(M) and Communist Party of India (CPI) would also participate in the meeting, Soundararajan said.

Leaders of some other parties and outfits will also be present.

The former prime minister's death was announced by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital on August 16. He was 93.
