Objecting to the propaganda of AIADMK regime's achievements through LED vans and other means, DMK today asked the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary to stop such activities and said the party would otherwise be constrained to approach the court over the issue.
"DMK calls upon you to cease and desist from printing publishing handbills, pamphlets or erecting advertisement boards, and operating the propaganda vans with LED screens in all districts at the cost of State exchequer and to remove the same forthwith," DMK Headquarters Principal Secretary Durai Murugan said in a representation to the State Chief Secretary.
Last month, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa launched 32 propaganda vans (one for each of the 32 districts) with features including LED display to disseminate the achievements of her regime.
All such forms of propaganda, when elections were scheduled for next year, were against the rules and an order of the Supreme Court, he said adding "failing which DMK would be constrained to initiate appropriate legal proceedings."
Copies of the representation have also been sent to the Chief Election Commissioner, the Union Ministry of Personnel and Public Grievances, District Collectors and Commissioners of Municipal Corporations in Tamil Nadu.
