The Safdarjung observatory, the reading of which is considered the official figure for the city, recorded 43.4 mm rainfall till 8.30 AM while weather stations at Lodhi Road, Palam, Ridge and Ayanagar received 41.6mm, 41.6mm, 48mm and 20.9 mm rainfall respectively in the same period.
Between 8.30 AM and 5.30 PM, Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, Palam, Ridge and Ayanagar stations recorded 12mm, 12.5mm, 4mm,7.4mm and 9.1mm rainfall, a MeT Department official said.
Several parts of the capital city reeled under severe traffic congestion and residents and commuters faced a tough time as the sections of flyovers, underpasses and low-lying localities, such as Sangam Vihar, were flooded.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 29.1 degrees Celsius, six notches below the season's average while the minimum temperature settled at 24.6 degrees, three notches below the normal.
The humidity level oscillated between 84 and 100 per cent.
The weatherman has predicted thunderstorm accompanied by rain for tomorrow.
"The skies will be generally cloudy. Thunderstorm accompanied by rains are likely to occur at several places tomorrow. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 29 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively," the weatherman said.
