The Indian national, identified by his initials MMH, and 43-year-old HMW from Pakistan convinced another man from India that they were CID officers and could remove the police records against him if he paid them money.
Police said the Indian impersonator claimed he was a CID officer when he contacted the victim, who was wanted by police in several cases.
He told the victim that he came to know about the cases from police records and could remove the same, Khaleej Times reported.
The police, on receiving the complaint, laid a trap and arrested the suspects red-handed while receiving the money in Police were informed about the activities of the duo in the eastern area of Sharjah.
Police have warned the public, especially Asians, not to fall victims to fraudsters who pose as police officers.
