According to police, Dharambir alias Dharmender Chauhan and Anil Kumar were arrested by a team of Special Cell from Vikas Puri Nala Road when they were headed towards Keshopur Mandi in a car on September 15.
"As their car was intercepted by Special Cell personnel, Dharmender tried to escape, but was chased and caught. A 7.65- mm foreign-made pistol loaded with five cartridges was recovered from him. His accomplice, Anil, was carrying a country-made pistol and two live cartridges," said Rajiv Ranjan, DCP of Special Cell.
Dharambir was previously convicted in two cases. He was awarded eight years' imprisonment in 2008 in an attempt to murder case and got 10 years' jail in another case of bank robbery and attempt to murder, said the officer.
He was serving the sentence at Bikaner jail in Rajasthan, but jumped parole in 2010 whereupon he got in touch with his associates and resumed his criminal activities, added Ranjan.
