An ASI circular dated September 3 said that Culture Secretary directed that the appointments of past five years, undertaken for various posts in ASI may be reviewed vis-a-vis procedural accuracies and academic certificates.
"The details of all appointments made by direct recruitment in the office of ASI since 1-10-2010 may be furnished to the Headquarters office latest by 10-09-2015 in the enclosed proforma along with photocopies of academic certificates possessed by the persons appointed," the circular said.
Terming it as a "preventive vigilance", ASI sources said that the rechecking is being done as an internal audit.
"There are no specific cases of any fake education certificates. The rechecking (exercises) is a routine process," official sources said, when asked whether it was an action, in the wake surfacing of any case of fake certificates.
