ECR has been regularly creating awareness through newspapers, TV, Radio, hoarding, posters, pamphlet and organising 'nukkad natak' to make people aware of the danger of casually crossing railway tracks and negotiating unmanned crossing oblivious of running of trains, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of ECR Arvind Kumar Rajak said in a statement.
ECR comprises Mughalsarai, Danapur, Sonepur, Dhanbad and Samastipur divisions.
Last month, Additional General Manager of ECR T P Singh had said that the Railway is working on manning 802 unmanned Railway crossings, building road over bridges and road under bridges in East Central Railway zone by 2020 in a bid to check accidents.
He said it has been noticed that in majority of incidents of collisions of vehicles with train, fault was found on the drivers' part.
At least 14 persons had died in Dhanbad division in December 2015 when a MUV tried to illegally cross and collided with a train near Bharkunda station.
In August 14, 2014, 19 people had lost their lives as an overloaded Tempo tried to cross the track and collided with a train near Semra station under Samastipur division.
