Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) took suo motu action and issued a notice to the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) asking if the body had followed rules for welfare of workers engaged to host the October 14 one-day international cricket match held here.
Indore's Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (Compliance) said in the notice that the MPCA has engaged a huge number of workers indirectly, but few received benefits of social security schemes as per the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provision Act, 1952.
In the notice, MPCA has been asked to furnish details of workers and labourers hired directly and indirectly (through contractors) for the cricket match to be played between India and South Africa on October 14.
The MPCA has been asked to give details with records and documents of wages as well as perks given to its workforce.
"If the MPCA fails to furnish details to the EPFO, it will be prosecuted accordingly," the notice said.
Meanwhile, MPCA Chief Executive Officer Rohit Pandit confirmed receipt of the EPFO notice, adding that it will take the right step on the issue.
