Every villages in Gaya, Jehanabad will be electrified: Manjhi

Working to fulfill his predecessor Nitish Kumar's promise, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi today said no village in Gaya and Jehanabad districts would be devoid of electricity by end of next month.
"Our target is that no village in Gaya and Jehanabad districts are left without electricity," Manjhi said addressing a function after unveiling statue of former Union minister Upendra Nath Varma.
While Gaya is the native place of Manjhi, neighbouring Jehanabad had been his "karmabhoomi" (work place) as he has long stint in politics from there. Presently he is MLA from Makhdumpur (SC) in Jehanabad district.
"Work is in progress to provide electricity connection in villages left out. Power facility will be given even to villages which has only 10 houses," he said.

The CM hailed pioneering efforts of Nitish Kumar in improving power scenario in the state.
When Kumar formed the government in 2005, the capacity of power distribution was only 500 MW which has scaled up to 2500 MW today, he said.

"Power supply is being provided for 22 hours in urban areas and 12 hours in rural regions at present," Manjhi said.
He said by the end of this year power distribution capacity of the state is expected to rise to 3000 MW and 4000 MW by next year.
Earlier, Nitish Kumar had said he would not contest the assembly polls next year if the power situation does not improve in the state.
