The exhibition titled 'Sari: The Magic of Indian Weaves- An Exhibition of Saris' was inaugurated by India's ambassador to Egypt Navdeep Suri last week.
The event is part of the 'India by the Nile Festival' and will run until April 12 at the Muhammad Mahmud museum here.
"The Sari exhibition is an essential part of the India by Nile exhibition and an important element of the topic 'distinguished women' which aims to shed light on the role of women in Egypt and India and showcase their successes as well as the challenges they face," Suri said.
It is under the supervision of Rata Kapur Chisti, an expert on fabrics and textiles and author of the book 'Sari radiation and other things'.
'India by the Nile' is the first of its kind festival dedicated to showcasing arts and culture from India through a variety of events taking place not only in Cairo but other Egyptian cities as well.
