Maharashtra MPs should take up development-related issues with the Centre, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said here today.
Fadnavis, who addressed a meeting of MPs from all parties from the state ahead of Parliament session beginning November 24, said the state government will soon operationalise a mechanism at Delhi and in the state to ensure follow up of Maharashtra-related issues at the Central level.
Fifty six MPs from Maharashtra, including NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Hansraj Ahir and Raosaheb Danve attended the meeting, held at Sahyadri guest house.
Issues like Maharashtra-Karnataka border row, coastal road, status for Marathi language, non-conventional energy, Mumbai suburban train issues, affordable houses, drought in Marathwada, linking Kolhapur with Konkan railway were discussed, an official said after the meeting.
It was also decided to follow up the issue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial on Indu Mill land with the Centre.
Some MPs complained that the government did not reply to their letters. Fadnavis asked concerned secretaries to take note of this and submit a report in two months.
Goyal informed the MPs that Maharashtra was getting sufficient supply of coal. "Today, 6,000 tonne coal was being supplied and the quantity would be increased to 18,000 tonne per day," the minister said.
