A special court has dismissed anticipatory bail pleas of three men, accused of opening saving accounts in Jain Cooperative Bank Ltd here by forging signature of introducer, saying several such cases have been reported post demonetisation.
"Considering totality of the circumstances coupled with the fact that many such fake bank accounts have been opened after demonetization, no ground for granting relief is made out. All three applications of captioned numbers accordingly stand dismissed," Special Judge Hemani Malhotra said.
As per the FIR lodged in December 26, 2016, the three accused, Sonu, Monu and Shakeel, opened nine fake saving bank accounts in Jain Cooperative Bank Ltd's Darya Ganj Branch here by forging the signatures of Vinay Jain, who was already having an account there, as introducer.
It alleged that lakhs of rupees have been deposited in them.
It said that on verification none of the three accused were found residing at the addresses furnished by them with the bank. A case was registered against them for the alleged offences of cheating, forgery, using forged documents as genuine and criminal conspiracy under the IPC.
The FIR was lodged on a complaint by Vinay Jain who said nine accounts were opened in the bank where he was made a witness without his knowledge.
For a person to open an account, a recommendation letter is required from an existing account holder. These fake accounts were found to have been opened with a forged recommendation from an existing account holder, police said.
The three men approached the court seeking anticipatory bail in the case stating that they were being harassed by the Income Tax Authority and Darya Ganj police since they opened saving account in the bank by depositing their hard earned money.
