Fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 12 cr seized since Jan

Fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with the face value of more than Rs 12.85 crore have been seized this year in various countries from Pakistani nationals or from people having links with Pakistan.
According to a report prepared by the Home Ministry, the packets of FICN were either carried by Pakistani nationals or by those having links with Pakistani spy agency ISI.
Yunus Ansari, a Nepali politician-cum-businessman, who is an alleged ISI agent and associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was arrested by Nepal Police near Kathmandu on January 24 and recovered Rs 35 lakh FICN from his possession.
The report said on February 12, FICN worth Rs 15 lakh seized from a Pakistani national Muhammad Ali, who was travelling to Colombo from Karachi. The consignment was sent by Pakistani FICN operator Aslam Shera as per the request of his associate Rizean, who is in a Sri Lankan jail in a case of heroin smuggling.
Rs 50 lakh was seized at Dhaka airport on April 19 and arrested one Bangladeshi national, Mohammad Idris, who was arriving from Dubai. Idris had been to Pakistan a few weeks prior to his arrival in Dhaka.
Bangladesh customs authorities seized a consignment of FICN worth Rs 6.4 crore on April 27 from cargo section of Dhaka airport. It was sent from Pakistan in a Qatar Airways cargo flight.
Bangladesh authorities seized FICN worth Rs 50 lakh from a Pakistani national, Abdul Rehman, who arrived from Karachi on April 1, the report said.
Based on the inputs developed and shared by R&AW with Thailand authorities, three Pakistani FICN operatives were taken into custody in Bangkok on July 22.
On September 14, Abu Dhabi authorities arrested four Pakistani nationals namely - Shiraz Nazir Ahmad, Mohammad Abdus Rabbani, Master Farooq Zaman, Amir Reza Darsi - and seized from them FICN worth Rs 47.27 lakh.
