A female Polish tourist, working as a nurse in the United Kingdom, was robbed of three cameras, 100 pounds and Indian currency collectively valued at Rs 1.72 lakh at Ahmedabad railway station, the police said here today.
Patrycya Barba Korzen (25) was attacked outside the Ahmedabad railway station at around 6.45 am yesterday, Malabar Hill police station senior inspector Shrirang Nadgauda told PTI.
According to the police, the incident happened while the victim and her female Polish friend were scheduled to board the Gujarat Express at Ahmedabad railway station, which is the connecting train to Mumbai, on their way from Jodhpur.
"There were not many people outside the station in the morning. As she was looking for fruit shops, two robbers demanded her bag. After she resisted, they attacked her with a sharp object, injuring her head. The robbers escaped with her bag containing three cameras, a music player, an iPad, 100 pounds and Rs 27,000 in cash. The collectively value of goods, Indian currency and foreign currency is estimated to be Rs 1.71 lakh," Nadgauda said.
Instead of reporting the matter to the local police in Gujarat, she reached Mumbai on the Gujarat Express and checked into a South Mumbai hotel, where the hotel staff asked her to register an FIR at the Malabar Hill police station yesterday.
Documents of the case has been sent to a police station in Gujarat for further investigation, since the incident occurred there, the police said.
