The Collector Girish S N had in his report on the death of an Italian tourist during treatment in SCB Medical College and Hospital here last November, observed that the Hospital lacked institutional mechanism to take care of unidentified and unattended patients.
Making the report public, Orissa High Court yesterday asked the state government to file an affidavit by next Thursday stating as to what actions have been taken on the recommendations of Cuttack collector for taking care of unidentified and unattended patients in SCB medical college and hospital.
Although, not fully agreeing with the allegation that the tourist Sebastian Rosario Contiguglia died due to negligence in treatment, the Collector had observed that the critically ill tourist suffered for long spells without care of an attendant.
