registered an FIR against Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) for alleged illegal allotment of village common land to the cricket body, headed by BJP MP Anurag Thakur.
"We have got the approval from Vigilance headquarters Shimla and registered the case against HPCA," Superintendent of Police Dharamsala Bimla Gupta said.
The case has been registered by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau under sections 406, 420 and 120-B of the IPC for various irregularities and name of the individuals would be incorporated as the investigations progress, he said.
The HPCA headed by Thakur, son of former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, has been accused of indulging in irregularities and changing the use of village common land in Dharamsala in violation of norms during previous BJP regime.
He said, "Prime facie, a Society and a Company, both are registered in the name of HPCA. It has been found that assets and liabilities were transferred from Society to the Company without government's approval and the probe after registration of case would reveal more facts".
The HPCA has been in the thick of controversy for the alleged favours given to it by previous BJP government when Dhumal was chief minister and his MP son, Anurag Thakur headed the HPCA.
