C Shanmugam, President of the Fireworks Factories Executives Association said the fee of renewal of licence for cracker go downs had been increased from Rs 15000 to Rs Four lakh,which was 30 times more. Similarly the fee for foremen eligibility certificate had been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 3000
The strike is supported by lorry owners and retail cracker traders also.
There were about 570 Cracker factories in the district and 30,000 people were employed in them.
