The current wave of floods has claimed 44 lives so far, while nearly four lakh people were affected by the floods, officials today.
The natural disaster has claimed 20 lives in Goalpara, 16 in Kamrup Rural, six in Kamrup Metro and one each in Morigaon and Dhubri, they said.
According to the daily flood report by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), river Kopili was flowing above the danger level at Dharamtul in Nagaon district.
The authorities are operating 35 relief camps and shelter homes, where around 21,000 people are staying at this moment, the sources added.
