"The woman has caused huge and immense damage to my reputation by making false claims and representing herself as my wife without producing any evidence," Rathwa told reporters after filing this suit in a civil court here.
"This woman has been harassing me for the last six years, making false claims as well as misguiding the media and court. I filed a defamation suit after she registered an FIR against me, my wife and a son on charges of assaulting and robbing her at Chhota Udaipur town in November," Rathwa, who is a resident of Chhota Udaipur, said.
She also alleged that she was robbed off her necklace during the attack.
"The Chhota Udaipur police station had registered an FIR under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including criminal intimidation and robbery against Rathwa, his wife, their son Sangramsinh as well as the latter's accomplice and started investigations," police inspector R S Bariya said soon after registration of her complaint.
He questioned how the police could register an FIR without verifying facts and believing that she is indeed his (Rathwa's) wife.
"She should have mentioned her husband's name in this complaint," Rathwa said.
The woman had alleged that she and her son were forced to get down from the bus they were travelling in and attacked by Sangramsinh and Shah.
Interestingly, the woman had also moved the Gujarat High Court earlier this year, claiming that Rathwa had fathered her two sons and sought a court direction for a DNA test to be conducted on Rathwa.
"This woman had contested Assembly elections from Amreli constituency in 2012. In her nomination form, she had mentioned her husband's name a Kashyap Solanki," Rathwa said.
"She has never produced any evidence in support of her claim of allegedly being married to me. She has been harassing me for the past six years. So I filed this defamation case against her," Rathwa said.
