Four get injured as landslide debris fell on car in Solan

A family of four from Punjab were seriously injured today when debris of landslide fell on the car in which they were travelling on Solan-Kumarhatti bypass, 52 km from here, official sources said.
A huge mound of earth fell on the car of Subhash Saini, a resident of Nangal in Punjab, at Shamlech on Solan-Kumarhatti bypass. He, his wife Surjit Kaur, son Ishant and daughter Shanti were injured.
The condition of the 8-year-old daughter is stated to be critical and she has been referred to PGI Chandigarh, an official said.
Heavy rains lashed mid and lower hills of Himachal and triggered landslides at numerous places blocking roads in the interior areas.
Arki in Solan district was wettest in the region with 195 mm rains while Baijnath and Palampur in Kangra district received 130 mm and 105 mm rains, followed by Jogindernagar, Dharampur and Nainadevi which received 57 mm, 54 mm and 52 mm of rains respectively.
Jubbar Hatti near Shimla received47 mm rains while Pachhad recorded 43 mm rains, followed by Kasauli and Sundernagar at 38 mm, Bhuntar 34 mm, Kangra and Nahan 29 mm, Dharamshala 24 mm, Dehra Gopipur 22 mm, Gaggal 21 mm, Rajgarh andKahu 14 mm, Kasauli 13 mm and Ghumarwin, Bilaspur and Manali 11 mm.
The minimum temperatures dropped by few notches after heavy rains and Kalpa and Keylong in tribal areas recorded a low of 14.8 degrees C and 15 degrees C, followed by Manali 15.6 degrees C, Shimla 15.9 degrees C, Dharamsala 17.2 degrees C, Palampur 19 degrees C, Solan 20 degrees C, Nahan 20.4 degrees C, Bhuntar 22 degrees C, Sundernagar 23.5 degrees C and Una 24.4 degrees C.
The maximum temperature plummeted from 37.8 degrees C yesterday to 27.2 degrees C at Una while Dharamsala was hottest at 28.4 degrees C followed by Bhuntar 28 degrees C, Una 27.2 degrees C, Sundernagar25.4 degrees C, Nahan 22.6 degrees C, Solan22.2 degrees C, Shimla 20.2 degrees C and Kalpa 20 degrees C.
The local MeT office has predicted rains or thundershowers at many places in lower, mid and higher hills over next six days and warned of heavy rains at isolated places in mid and lower hills tomorrow.
