"The tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Pahalgam and Kupwara town experienced fresh snowfall while most other parts of the Valley received rains," a MET Department spokesman said here.
He said light to moderate rain or snow would occur at many places over Kashmir division today, while the weather would remain generally dry for the few days ahead.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded 11 cm of fresh snowfall and 22 mm of rainfall during the night, the spokesman said.
Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir received 2 cm of snowfall and 1.6 mm of rainfall and the minimum temperature there rose by 5.5 degrees to settle at minus 1.0 degree Celsius.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.9 degree Celsius, slightly up from minus 1.5 degrees Celsius the previous night, the spokesman said, adding the city received 4 mm of rainfall during the night.
Kupwara, in north Kashmir, received 4.6 cm of snow and 23.8 mm of rains during the night, the spokesman said.
He said the town recorded a low of minus 0.1 degree Celsius, up from minus 1.8 degrees Celsius the previous night.
The mercury in Kokernag resort, in south Kashmir, appreciated by two degrees from minus 2.6 degrees Celsius to settle at minus 0.5 degree Celsius.
Kargil, in Ladakh region, recorded a low of minus 15 degrees Celsius, four degrees up from yesterday's minus 19 degrees Celsius, the spokesman said, adding the town continues to be the coldest recorded place in Jammu and Kashmir.
