In an interaction with a group of school girls here, Amarinder, the Congress candidate from Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, said "once I enter the parliament, I will draw the country's attention towards the prevailing law and order situation in Punjab where our daughters are not feeling safe".
The girls also raked up the issue of last years killing of an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) in broad daylight after he tried to protect the honour of his daughter from some anti-social elements. He was allegedly shot dead by a youth Akali Dal leader.
The Congress candidate said all this was happening under the "patronage" of the present government and the person who killed the ASI was also a "close aide" of Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia.
He promised the girl students that he will explore the avenues whereby they will not have to move out of the state for their jobs.
