These two autonomous district councils will go to poll next month after the state cabinet has approved of their 15-day extension when their term expires on February 16 while the term of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Councils has been given a six month extension.
These three autonomous district councils, having 29 constituencies and a nominated member in each, were formed under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India for which the entire state is under its purview.
The polls to the KHADC and JHADC will be held on February 24 while the counting of votes will take place on February 27, sources said.
