An organisation representing displaced Kashmiri Pandits today said the Centre and state government had failed to deliver on the promises made to the community and threatened to protest from "Kashmir to Kanyakumari" in support of their demands.
"We will carry out a kafan yatra from Kashmir to Kanyakumari from October 10 in support of our six point charter of demands," All Party Migrant Co-ordination Committee chairman Vinod Pandit said.
Claiming that the Centre and state government were responsible for "deplorable condition" of the community, he alleged that the prime minister's package for the unemployed KP youth was a "failure".
"The package has been a big failure as only around 1,500 people have been employed under the package so far. Under the package, both the Centre and the state had to provide employment to 6,000 KP youth, but so far they have not even met half of that figure," Pandit said.
The demands of the organisation include building Shardha University in the state and opening up of the route to the Sharda temple in PoK.
He said the state government, after APMCC's 15-day long agitation in Porbandar in Gujarat earlier this year, had assured them their demands would be discussed, but so far only one meeting had been held to address their issues.
