Govt sets up expert advisory group to assist water ministry

The government has constituted an Expert Advisory Group to assist the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.
The Group will have a Chief Adviser - B N Navalawala, former Secretary to the Ministry of Water Resources - and two other Advisers from time to time, appointed in consultation with the Chief Adviser.
The Group may co-opt other experts for a specific purpose and for a specified period with the prior approval of the ministry, a press release here said.
Navalawala was adviser on water management to Narendra Modi when he was Gujarat Chief Minister, and is holding the position now.

After obtaining BE (Civil) degree from Gujarat University, Navalawala joined government service. He has been a member of UPSC, and a number of important committees of the Centre, including the Committee of National Rehabilitation Policy, Committee on Inter-State Basin Organisations, Committee on Pricing of Irrigation Water.
