Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has asked the participants of 'Chintan Shibir', which began here today to draft what she called "a vision document", to focus on the state's Human Development Index (HDI).
According to an official press release issued here, all ministers, parliamentary secretaries, senior secretaries of various departments, IAS officers, collectors, district development officers and other key officials will discuss key HDI-related issued concerning Gujarat, at the three-day event which is on at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
In her inaugural speech, Patel stated that the main purpose of the event is to draft a "vision document" to complete all pro-people work at district and taluka levels in order to improve the state's HDI, the release stated.
Addressing all key officers, collectors, IAS officers and ministers, Patel said that the interest of the common man and welfare of the entire society should be at the centre of each and every government scheme.
She suggested that field officers should share their experiences as well as successful experiments in their respective areas with each other in order to replicate these on a larger scale, it said.
Similarly, Patel asked the administration to take into account suggestions from similar events at taluka and district-level, while holding state-level 'Chintan Shibir'.
On the occasion, Gujarat Chief Secretary G R Aloria stated that the "much appreciated Gujarat model" is the outcome of such brainstorming events held in the past. He asked officials to establish direct communications with commoners to solve their problems, it said.
On July 4 and July 5, ministers as well as officials are scheduled to participate in four panel discussions and seven different group discussions as part of the brainstorming event, the release added.
