Gulf returnee, mother-in-law killed in road mishap

A man who had just landed here from
the Gulf was killed along with his mother-in-law while six others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road in neighbouring Kannur district in the wee hours today.
According to police, the driver of the car dozed off at
the wheel, leading to the mishap near Keecherri at around 3 AM.
The victims have been identified as Babu and his mother-in
-law Lakshmi, both of whom died while being rushed to hospital. Babu's 22-year old daughter has been admitted to a hospital in Kannur with serious injuries.

Five others, including the driver, suffered minor injuries

and are receiving treatment, police said.
Babu had arrived at the airport here last night and was
received by his family members. All of them were heading to their hometown of Trikarpur in Kasargod district when tragedy struck.
