Har CM asks I-T dept to provide data for SRDB survey

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today asked I-T officials to provide the state government authentic data on people's income, earnings and properties so that it can be incorporated in SRDB survey.
This would help the government in better planning of future strategies for the development and welfare of the people in the state, he said at the 'Pratyaksh Kar Samagam' conference organised by the Income Tax (I-T) Department (North-West Region) here.
The State Resident Data Base (SRDB) survey would begin on May 1, and the collected information would be used to compile a centralised database of the state's population, Khattar said.

The data will be used to ensure effective implementation of different welfare programmes and facilitate preparation of future schemes, he said.
Referring to the demand made by Principal Chief Commissioner I-T Department (North-West Region) K C Jain, the Chief Minister said Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) has been asked to provide the Department with 10 acres land for residential purpose and two acres for office complex in Gurgaon.
Besides, the state government would provide complete support to the I-T Department to meet its infrastructural needs anywhere in the state, he assured.

He also called upon I-T officers to encourage people to voluntarily pay their taxes.

"The people of Haryana have immensely contributed to the tax kitty of the nation. More than half of the last financial year's revenue collection was contributed by the state," Khattar claimed.
The Department had collected Rs 35,000 crore in the 2016-17 fiscal out of which the state's share stood at Rs 19,000 crore, he said.
Taking a dig at previous Congress governments in the Centre, Khattar claimed that some people then evaded taxes as they were not sure if the government would honestly spend it for development.
Now, for the first time people have begun to think that the era has changed and that the governments, both at Centre and in the state, are now working to root out corruption at all levels, he said.

Khattar also listed major initiatives taken by his government in this direction.
