Haryana government today challenged the opposition parties which are raising hue and cry over the white paper on state finances, to prove that the data pertaining to state's fiscal position is incorrect.
"We invite them (opposition parties) to challenge us that the data given in the white paper is incorrect, fudged or wrong. We will prove our data with government documents," Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu said here today.
He was responding to a query on opposition parties raising a question over the sanctity of the white paper.
Earlier, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar questioned the opposition parties, asking them whether the data pertaining to per capital income, regional bias is wrong.
"Whether the per capita income as presented in it is wrong or the figures on debts or the facts on the discrimination meted out in the allocation of resources to certain districts are wrong," Khattar said while talking to media here after releasing the second part of the white paper here today.
Khattar said no leader has commented on the facts of the white paper except saying that it is all lies.
"If they (opposition parties) present facts with date we will welcome it," said Khattar.
After the release of first part of the white paper on February 2, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had described the document as "bundle of lies."
The BJP government in Haryana is trying to hide its own failures by targeting the ten year rule of Congress, the two time chief minister, had said.
On being asked to comment on opposition's negative statements about the white paper, the chief minister said that data have been released with facts and figures.
"The aim of releasing the white paper is not vindictive and not to be compared with financial situation of states, but financial irregularities committed during last 10 years in the state have been shown," he said.
Attacking the previous Haryana government, the state finance minister said because of economic policies of last regime in past 10 years, the ranking of Haryana state in terms of economic development dropped from nine to 11.
To a query, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the state government has not tried to tarnish the image of Haryana through the white paper.
"White paper is an official document based on facts which should become the base of future discussions and deliberations to provide right direction to policy formation. First we have to understand the weaknesses of the economy and then take measures to strengthen it. Also, to explore new recourses while framing policies for the development of each sector," he said.
