These and several other decisions were taken in a meeting of the state's civil aviation department held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today.
It was decided to develop Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO), and Fixed Based Operator (FBO) facilities in a time-bound manner, creation of a Joint Working Group and a special purpose vehicle (SPV) comprising the civil aviation and the industries departments, an official release said here.
It was informed in the meeting that in the first phase the existing airport in Hisar would be developed and upgraded as a domestic one under the Regional Connectivity Scheme of the Centre.
In the second phase, the airstrip would be extended from its current 4,000 feet to 9,000 feet with facilities of night landing and state-of-the-art navigational aid to facilitate the airlines and operators for fixed-based operations within a period of next 18 months, the release said.
The meeting was also informed that the Aviation Hub would be developed as a 'brownfield' project.
