Haryana districts implement NPCDCS

The National Program on Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular and Stroke (NPCDCS) has been implemented in some districts of the state, Haryana government said today.
NPCDCS has been implemented in Mewat, Ambala, Yamuna Nagar and Kurukshetra districts under which, free check-up of blood pressure and glucose level of people above 30 years of age is done, Haryana Health Minister Rao Narinder Singh said on the occasion of World Health Day.
Stressing the need for generating awareness on blood pressure, which is the theme of this year's World Health Day, he said all those who are above 30 years should get their blood pressure checked at the nearest health institution and those taking medicines for blood pressure should get it checked regularly.
The Minister said, uncontrolled blood pressure might lead to blindness and irregular heartbeat and added that chest pain, anxiety, pain in shoulders, elbows, jaws and back and breathing problem are various symptoms of blood pressure disorder.
People should decrease their salt intake, take proper diet, avoid junk food, liquor and tobacco, should exercise regularly and keep their weight under control to avoid high blood pressure, Singh added.
