To provide medical care and legal aid under one roof to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, the Haryana government has decided to set up one-stop crisis centres in state's civil hospitals.
The proposed centres, which would also provide police assistance to the victims, were mooted at a meeting last evening chaired by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The Department of Women and Child Development will play the lead role in implementing the scheme and it would be supported by the departments of Health, Home and Police, according to an official release heres.
The scheme is to be fully funded by the Central government and the budget for one such centre for the first year has been fixed at Rs 34.17 lakh, the release stated.
These centres would have tremendous social impact as they would comprehensively cater to the needs of victims through a single window format, it said.
Hooda stressed on the key areas of ensuring access to facilities for women in the fields of health, education, drinking water, sanitation and hygiene.
