"Even though T&D losses from rural Haryana have reached 70 per cent as per the latest official estimates, the state discoms are determined to offset losses by bringing about modifications in infrastructure," Managing Director Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Arun Kumar Verma said here.
The state is unlikely to increase electricity tariff even with the formation of new government as discoms are adequately geared up to drastically reduce the aggregate T&D losses with the government allocating them Rs 3,000 crore.
Verma said the Haryana government had not allowed its discoms to hike the domestic and industrial electricity tariff for nine consecutive years beginning 2001 to 2009 for political and social reasons.
The scenario has now changed, he said, adding that the upgradation and modification of discoms has become a missionary commitment.
They will replace the existing system with the new ones so that electric consumers are not burdened with the increased tariff structure, he said.
